Before tabling the recent federal budget, Prime Minister Carney noted that “we will have to do less of some of the things we want to do.” When it comes to the endangered Southern Resident killer whales, doing less will lead to their extinction. Federal investment is vital to the long-term recovery of this population, but not every solution carries a price tag for Ottawa.
