Over 100,000 000 Canadians with intellectual disabilities long for a home in communities where they belong. Many are isolated and at risk of harm. Accessible, affordable housing is scarce. So are the person-centred supports, social networks, and places of belonging necessary for well-being and inclusion.
This Solutions Lab brings together multisectoral stakeholders with persons with disabilities and their families to share knowledge, and co-create and test solutions to the challenge of creating inclusive, affordable housing. SHIFT is supporting the design, facilitation and developmental evaluation of the initiative which includes both a Community Lab in New Brunswick and a National Community of Practice.
